Alia Bhatt recently squeezed in the shoot for the song ‘Re Bawri’ from her upcoming production ‘Don’t Be Shy’ after completing an early morning schedule for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’. ‘Dhurandhar’ fame choreographer Vijay Ganguly has now revealed that the actor had only a few hours to shoot the track and did not even have time to rehearse, yet managed to learn its hook step in just five minutes.

An early morning shoot would typically be enough to call it a day, but Alia Bhatt went straight from the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’ to ‘Don’t Be Shy’. The actor, who is also producing the upcoming campus caper, made time for a five-hour shoot for the song Re BawriIn a conversation with Mid Day, choreographer Vijay Ganguly revealed the song was always envisioned as an important part of the film. He revealed that both he and director Sreeti Mukerji wanted the campus-based story to have a music video, with the track initially planned around the film’s four leads.“Though it was to be picturised on the four leads earlier, eventually we wanted Alia to feature in it too as she is a fabulous dancer. But the dates were not working out. Suddenly one day, Alia gave us a date, and we had only four hours of her time as she was doing many things back-to-back,” Ganguly told the afore mentioned publication.
Vijay Ganguly says Alia learned the hook step in five minutes
The energetic track was shot in early September at Chitrarth Studio in Powai. With Alia’s schedule packed with multiple commitments, the actor had very little time to prepare for the song. Ganguly revealed that Alia arrived on the sets after completing an early morning shoot and immediately got down to work. Despite not having time for a rehearsal, she quickly picked up the choreography and completed her portions.“Alia wanted to promote the kids as much as she could. She did not have time to even rehearse for Re Bawri. She came on set after an early morning shoot and did what she had to do in five hours. She learned the hook step in five minutes,” he recalled.The choreographer also praised Alia’s dancing abilities, while highlighting the effort she has been putting into her role as a producer.
Alia Bhatt wanted to promote the four newcomers
Alia’s appearance in Re Bawri was not merely a dance cameo. According to Ganguly, the actor was keen to use her presence to bring greater attention to the four newcomers at the centre of ‘Don’t Be Shy’. Her involvement in the song therefore served a dual purpose: it added a familiar face and established performer to the music video while also helping promote the young cast.Ganguly further praised Alia for being closely involved in the production process. “Alia is a hands-on producer. She called me to say she is making a film on a small budget, and wanted me to choreograph this song.”
