Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell confirmed the number of people shot during a press conference late Saturday night. The Associated Press reported that at least 12 people were injured in total, including six children, and that no arrests have been made.

The shooting happened in the area of Perry Street and Manatee Street, near the stadium, just hours after FAMU hosted Arkansas-Pine Bluff in its annual homecoming football game. Homecoming at FAMU is one of the biggest weekends of the year for the HBCU, drawing students, alumni and families from across the country to Tallahassee.

As police responded, FAMU sent an emergency alert telling anyone near Bragg Stadium and Perry Street to avoid the area or shelter in place. The university later said its campus remains safe, expressed support for the victims and everyone affected, and asked anyone with information to contact the Tallahassee Police Department.

Florida State University, located across town, also sent an alert to its community. FSU said there was no indication any of its students or staff were involved, but advised students, faculty and staff in the Tallahassee area to stay indoors for the rest of the night as a precaution.

Police have not released the names of the victims or details on their conditions. Authorities also have not said what led to the shooting or whether anyone involved was connected to homecoming festivities.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
