Cardi B Removes Latto’s Name From “ErrTime” During Tiny Desk

Cardi B performed “ErrTime” during her NPR Tiny Desk Concert, but one name was noticeably missing from the lyrics. The Bronx rapper skipped Latto’s name twice, replacing the original shoutout with different references as questions continue surrounding their strained relationship.

During the Tiny Desk Concert released by NPR on Monday, October 19, Cardi performed “ErrTime” after opening her set with “Hello.” However, when she reached the lyrics that originally mentioned Latto, she changed the words.

Cardi first rapped, “Bad brown [expletive]. She look like Kelly in this [expletive].” The original version references Latto instead. When the line came around again, Cardi switched things up once more, this time referencing her younger sister, Hennessy Carolina.

While the substitutions might seem minor to casual listeners, they carry additional weight considering the history between the two rappers. Cardi has not publicly explained the changes, making it unclear whether they were intended as a deliberate slight.

The situation is especially notable because Cardi and Latto previously worked together on the same record.

Latto joined Cardi for a September 2025 remix of “ErrTime” from her sophomore album, “AM I THE DRAMA?” The collaboration followed their successful 2023 track “Put It On Da Floor Again,” which helped establish their professional relationship.

Things changed shortly after the “ErrTime” remix was released.

In September 2025, a recording of a heated phone conversation involving Cardi and Ice Spice’s manager circulated online. Cardi made disparaging remarks about Latto while discussing her issues with Ice Spice, referring to her fellow rapper as weak.

Although the conversation was not primarily about Latto, the comments quickly created tension between the collaborators.

Cardi publicly apologized on September 30, 2025, acknowledging that she had been upset during the conversation. In her statement on X, she emphasized her respect for Latto and her team, while promising to apologize privately and purchase her a designer bag.

However, that apology did not resolve their differences.

Months later, Latto addressed the situation on “Gimme Dat,” a track from her May 2026 album “Big Mama.” The record included lyrics questioning Cardi’s offer to purchase her a luxury bag, suggesting that material gifts were unnecessary.

During a June 4 appearance on The Breakfast Club, Latto confirmed the lyrics were about Cardi.

Latto explained that she had rushed to record her “ErrTime” remix verse to support Cardi’s first week album sales. Just days later, she discovered the leaked recording circulating online.

Latto said the situation was particularly disappointing because she considered Cardi a friend. She was also pregnant at the time and believed their personal relationship warranted a direct conversation rather than only a public apology.

Although Cardi eventually reached out privately, Latto said the message arrived approximately two months later. By then, she had emotionally moved past the initial controversy.

Still, Latto pushed back against the idea that “Gimme Dat” was intended as a traditional diss record.

“I’m open to the conversation,” she told The Breakfast Club, leaving the possibility of reconciliation on the table while maintaining that the lyrics reflected how she felt when recording the album.

Cardi responded that same day with another public statement.

Cardi acknowledged that her comments were disrespectful and claimed she had attempted to contact Latto through her manager, sister, and direct messages throughout 2025 and 2026.

She also explained that she was eight months pregnant, overwhelmed and emotional when the recording surfaced, while making clear that those circumstances did not excuse her comments.

“I always had love and respect for you !” Cardi wrote, explaining that she had wanted to repair their relationship.

Despite those exchanges, the tension appeared to continue into the summer.

During the July 2026 Essence Festival of Culture, both artists performed on the same night. Cardi removed Latto’s name while performing “ErrTime,” substituting references to herself as Bardi and her sister Henny.

The October Tiny Desk performance now marks another public occasion where Cardi has performed the song without mentioning her former collaborator.

Neither rapper has confirmed that their relationship has been repaired. While Latto previously expressed openness to a conversation and Cardi maintained that she wanted to make amends, the repeated lyric changes suggest their reconciliation remains uncertain.
