KFC Cereal Turns Breakfast Into A Chicken And Gravy Bowl

KFC is bringing its fried chicken playbook to the breakfast table, and milk is officially not invited. KFC UK has teamed with cereal company Surreal to create KFC cereal, officially called KFCereal, a savory breakfast inspired by the chain’s Original Recipe flavor and signature blend of 11 herbs and spices. The September 22 release marks KFC’s first cereal collaboration and gives one of the most familiar breakfast foods a very different spin.

Instead of pairing the crunchy cereal with traditional milk, customers are encouraged to pour KFC gravy over it. The limited edition KFC cereal is being sold exclusively through Surreal’s online store for £6, including shipping, while supplies last. The product was created to mimic the flavor profile associated with KFC’s Original Recipe chicken.

There is at least one part of the bowl that looks more like a modern fitness breakfast than a fast food stunt. Each serving of KFCereal contains 19 grams of protein and one gram of sugar, reflecting Surreal’s broader focus on high protein cereal products. Still, the recommended gravy pairing makes it clear that this KFC cereal was designed to get people talking just as much as it was designed to be eaten.

KFC brand manager Elspeth Allen said, “Our 11 herbs and spices have been doing a pretty good job on chicken, so we thought we’d see what they could do for breakfast,” before adding, “We wanted to take something people know and love and give it the KFC treatment. And what better way to do that than with a bowl of cereal and a pot of our iconic Gravy?”

Anyone familiar with KFC’s recent experiments knows the KFC cereal is far from the first time the company has moved its signature flavors into unexpected territory. In May 2025, Food Manufacture reported that KFC partnered with Hackney Gelato in the United Kingdom to create Gravy Gelato. The limited edition frozen dessert combined KFC gravy flavors with gelato and included notes of peppercorn and chicken. It was sold in 460-milliliter tubs for £5.50, with proceeds going to the KFC Youth Foundation.

KFC was experimenting with unlikely mashups years before gravy reached the freezer aisle. The chain took its Cheetos Sandwich nationwide in the United States in July 2019 after testing the creation in select markets. The limited-run sandwich combined an Extra Crispy chicken fillet with Cheetos, mayonnaise, and a special Cheetos sauce on a toasted bun. KFC said at the time that the item would only remain available through the end of July.

The company’s flavors have also crossed into the candy aisle. Frankford Candy has sold KFC Colonel’s Favorite Jelly Beans, a novelty candy assortment featuring fried chicken, sweet corn, and gravy flavors. Frankford describes the beans as a sweet and savory spin on traditional jelly beans, and its current product page lists the three-pack as sold out. That makes a bowl of gravy-covered KFC cereal feel slightly less surprising when placed alongside chicken-flavored candy.

KFC’s international restaurants have pushed the sweet and savory formula even further. In August 2026, KFC China launched an Oreo Original Recipe Chicken Burger nationwide as a limited-time offering. The burger paired a fried chicken thigh fillet with mashed potatoes coated in crushed Oreo pieces, then placed the filling between black Oreo-flavored buns designed to resemble the cookie’s chocolate wafers. The item went on sale in China on August 28.

Seen against that history, KFC cereal looks less like a random breakfast experiment and more like another chapter in the brand’s ongoing effort to put familiar KFC flavors into places consumers would never expect to find them.
